AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE APPROVING ZONE CHANGE
NO. 1259 -11 REZONING PROPERTIES FROM
RESIDENTIAL SINGLE FAMILY (R -1 -40) TO
SPECIFIC PLAN PUBLIC INSTITUTION (SP -PI)
FOR THE SALEM LUTHERAN CHURCH AND
SCHOOL LOCATED AT 6500 EAST SANTIAGO
CANYON ROAD
ZONE CHANGE NO. 1259 -11
APPLICANT: SALEM LUTHERAN CHURCH AND SCHOOL
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orange is authorized by Government Code
Section 65850 to adopt ordinances amending the City's zoning code; and
WHEREAS, Zone Change No. 1259 -11 was filed by Salem Lutheran Church and School
in accordance with the provisions of the City of Orange Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, Zone Change No. 1259 -11 was processed in the time and manner
prescribed by state and local law; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission, having considered the proposed Zone Change at
a public hearing held on January 19, 2015, including review of the staff report and having
received public testimony, has determined the proposed amendment is justified and recommends
approval thereof; and
WHEREAS, the City Council held a duly advertised public hearing on March 10, 2015
for the purpose of considering Zone Change No. 1259 -11 as it pertains to the proposed redesign
of the Salem Lutheran Church and School campus upon the properties shown in the attached
Exhibit "A ";
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1
The existing zoning is depicted on the map attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and
incorporated herein by reference. The Orange Municipal Code is amended in order to change the
zoning classification by amending the zoning on the sites depicted on the map attached hereto as
Exhibit `B" and incorporated herein by reference.
