A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO MARK SPREEMAN OF THE ORANGE CITY
FIRE DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM
FOR THIRTY -ONE YEARS OF LOYAL AND
DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Mark Spreeman graduated from Santa Ana College in 1981 with an
emphasis in Fire Science; and
WHEREAS, he joined the Orange City Fire Department on September 18, 1983;
Mark worked as a Firefighter and promoted to Fire Engineer on December 17 1989;
WHEREAS, Mark was assigned to a Training Company, he was US &R certified,
part of the swiftwater rescue team, a trench rescue specialist and a confined space technical
rescue specialist; and
WHEREAS, he was a state certified Fire officer, state certified Fire investigator,
state certified Prevention officer, and a state certified Fire instructor; and
WHEREAS, Mark was born into a fire family. He now joins his brother and father as
part of the retired firefighters; and
WHEREAS, the fire service was a true passion for Mark. However, when he wasn't
at work he was surfing, deep sea fishing, traveling to Cabo San Lucas, watching hockey and
football or camping in his RV; and
WHEREAS, Mark was a career firefighter and enjoyed it yet his most rewarding
trade is being a father to his two daughters, Blake and Devon; and
WHEREAS, now settling into retirement Mark is looking into pursuing the learning
of culinary arts and enjoying as much time with his family as possible;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED I, Teresa E. Smith, Mayor of the City of
Orange, on behalf of the entire Orange City Council wishes to recognize Mark Spreeman for
thirty -one years of dedication to the Orange City Fire Department and public service. We
wish Mark and his family many years of happiness, health, and fulfillment during his
retirement.
