DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND The City's Emergency Services Vehicles require 24 hour, 7 days per week coverage for tire replacement. Fleet Services of the Public Works Department annually spends approximately $100,000 on tire purchases and repairs. The purchase and service agreements are informally bid to local suppliers. The three lowest priced suppliers are used each year (currently these are Dapper Tire, Parkhouse Tire and Pete's Road Service). Of the three suppliers only Pete's Road Service provides both tires and 24 hour emergency roadside service. The Fleet Services Division uses Pete's Road Service to change tires that are larger than our in -house wheel changing equipment capacity, most of which are large trucks (class 7 & 8) and are Emergency Services Vehicles (fire apparatus). This accounts for approximately one quarter of the vehicles in our current fleet. 8. ATTACHMENTS • N/A ITEM 2 2/10/15 C Printed on Recycled Paper
