Definition per OPD Policy 606
A presentation of photographs to a victim or witness for the
purpose of identifying or eliminating an individual as the
suspect.
1. Six-Pack
•A single sheet of paper with a photograph
containing the suspect and five others who bear
resemblance.
(AKA “six-pack”)
2. Sequential Line-Up
•The viewer is shown the same individual six
photographs, but views them one at a time.
*Since no two photographs are visible at the same time. The
viewer compares their memory of the suspect to each
photograph, rather than comparing the six photos to each
other.

*As of January 2020, PC 859.7:
LE agencies shall:
•Use a “Blind Administrator”
to conduct Photographic Line-
Ups.
•Audio and Video recordings
are required.
•OPD form P-51: The victim /
witness MUST read the
admonition and sign prior to
viewing the line-up!
*Do not validate or invalidate the
selection made to eyewitness.
*Make copies of Six-Pack and OPD P-51 form and book originals
into evidence.
ASK: How confident are you?
•A live presentation of a
suspect to a victim or witness
of a crime.
•A show-up usually occurs
immediately or shortly after
the crime was committed and
near the crime location.
•The evidence points to the
individual as the suspect.
•Read Form 5.13 out loud to the
eyewitness prior to viewing
suspect using BWC.
•Always transport eyewitness to
the suspect’s location.
•Utilize head lights.
•Have the suspect turn if needed.
•If a positive ID is made, be sure
to have the eyewitness give detail
as to “why” they are able to
identify.
